The modest mid-summer meteor shower known as the Delta Aquariids fly through the night sky from the region of the star Skat in the constellation Aquarius, the Waterman, and are active from July 12 to August 23, with a peak overnight July 28-29. The star name Skat means “a whisper” or a “wish,” and the star is surrounded by some of the luckiest stars in the night sky, so be sure to get out and cast your wishes to the stars!
The parent comet of this meteor shower is 96P/Machholz, discovered by our friend Don Machholz, one of the most prolific comet hunters of our era, who now finds himself competing against machine technology to discover new wonders in the night sky.
